Link Crew welcomes freshmen, making them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their Divine Child High School experience. As positive role models, our well-trained junior and senior Link Crew leaders act as mentors, guiding freshmen through the transition to high school and acclimating them to campus life. Crew members begin by calling each freshman individually before the school year starts. In conjunction with staff moderators, Link Crew leaders run our fun, energetic, and interactive freshman orientation. Proudly wearing their Link Crew shirts on the first days of school, members of the Crew are visible in the halls, supporting freshmen and helping them find their way. Activities such as the fall football tailgate and Cram-and-Cocoa, along with several check-in meetings, classroom lessons, and hallway check-ins, help make ninth graders’ first year of high school a positive experience. The hospitality of the Link Crew builds a relationship with freshmen; it provides a structure for them to receive support and guidance from juniors and seniors who have faced the challenges that beginning high school poses – and as a result, dramatically increases their chances for success.
Link Crew leaders are also eager to assist transfer students by helping them feel at ease as new members of the Divine Child family.
