How does my child get in the Honors Program and AP Program?
HSPT scores are one factor in determining accelerated coursework, but students are also asked to take a discipline-specific test on the day of registration in March. These tests are offered for Math, English, and Science. Students whose scores suggest that accelerated coursework may be premature are afforded additional opportunities over successive summers to participate in bridge classes that will better prepare them for our most rigorous classes. Students are recommended for Advanced Placement (A.P.) classes based on classroom performance and teacher recommendation. Students who exhaust all the Advanced Placement classes available at Divine Child are directed to our collegiate partners at Madonna and UM Dearborn. Every semester, our Falcons compete with college undergraduates at these institutions and acquit themselves well.
