The Bands at Divine Child High School provide a family type atmosphere to its students with an abundance of opportunity to express oneself through music.
Our Award Winning Falcon Marching Band is the pride of DC. The main purpose of the marching band is to support our Falcon Football Team, as well as represent the Divine Child community. Performances include all home football games, the schools homecoming parade, the Dearborn Memorial Day parade, the Mackinaw Memorial Day parade (mayor's award), Polish Day parade in Hamtramick (best marching unit) and at the M.S.B.O.A. Marching Band Festival(several awards) held in October of every year.
Our DC Pep Band is a smaller group of marching band members who travel to away football games, home hockey games, home basketball and volleyball games, and all school pep rallies. Our Pep Band is student run by seniors Patrick Joyce and Paul Doherty.
The symphonic band has grown to be one of southeast Michigan's finest ensembles. The Bands performances concentrate on the finest in wind ensemble literature from Sousa to Bach, and from Tichelli to King. The Symphonic band performs 4 concerts a year, performs at M.S.B.O.A. district and state festivals, attends college clinics and professional performances by major symphony orchestras and bands, and even gets into costume to start the year off with their annual Spooktackular Halloween Concert.
The DC Jazz Ensemble provides students the opportunity to learn, study, and perform from the jazz idiom. With performances throughout the state of Michigan, the band brings delight with a touch of jazz to every performance.
Other performing opportunities include the DC percussion ensemble, a flute choir, a woodwind quintet, a woodwind choir, a brass choir, a church service ensemble, pit orchestra, and M.S.B.O.A. solo & ensemble festival.
If time is important to you, understand that over 85% of band students are involved in other activities such as sports, forensics, theater, community bands/orchestras, and clubs to name a few. This means, there is always a place for you in the band program!
If you like to travel than this is the place for you! Each year the band travels to and performs at various locations around the continent. Such places include Toronto, Canada; Chicago, Illinois; New York, New York; Washington D.C., Gettysburg P.A., Disney World in Orlando, Florida; and even Mackinac Island, Michigan.
The Divine Child Band Boosters is the backbone of this great department as they provide the necessary financial support a well rounded band program entails. The boosters also provides support with fundraising, concerts, afterglows, and equipment movers to and from concert sites. All band student parents are automatic members of this great organization.
