If you are currently an 8th grader seeking admission as a freshman, please have your parents call our Admissions Office at 313-216-0891 x268. Applications are being considered for our waiting list.
If you are currently a 7th grader wanting to apply for the 2018-2019 school year, you would follow this process beginning September 15:
Step #1: Application for Admission
If Divine Child is the only Catholic high school where you are applying, click on the red link below, and you will be taken to an InfoSnap site. Once you enter your email and establish a password, you can begin the application process. Be sure to press “submit” once you are finished, and DC will receive your responses electronically.
If you are applying to two Catholic high schools, click on the red link below and you will be taken to a SchoolAdmin site. Once you enter your email and establish a password, you can begin the application process. Be sure to submit your responses when finished, and your responses will be received by DC and your other Catholic high school choice.
Step #2: Transcript Release & Recommendation Form
The form is available below. Parents should sign this form and deliver it to your child’s school. The school will forward transcripts and the recommendation form directly to our Admissions Office.
Step #3: High School Placement Test (HSPT)
The High School Placement Test is required for all 8th graders applying to a Catholic high school. The test fee is $40. Because our main test dates have passed, we would schedule individual testing with an applicant once the Application for Admission has been received.
For students applying for the 208-2019 school year, your test dates are:
- Main test date: Saturday, November 18 from 8 – 11:45 a.m.
- Make-up/testing accommodations date: Saturday, December 2 from 8 – 11:45 a.m.
- Students needing extended time testing will test until 1 p.m.
Partial academic scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who score exceptionally well on the November or December High School Placement Tests and have excellent grades. Students who take the November, December, February or March HSPT can be considered for the Archdiocese of Detroit need-based tuition assistance grants.
Step #4: Student Interview
Once we receive the Application for Admission, the students and parent(s) will meet with our Director of Admissions and/or one of our administrators. Interviews are usually held after school.
- Students who test in November or December are mailed their admission letter on the fourth Friday in January.
- Students who test in February are mailed their letter on the fourth Friday in February.
- Students who test in March are mailed their letter on the fourth Friday in March.
- Students who apply after the March test are mailed their letter within one week of their application, transcripts and test scores being received.
Students of all faiths are welcome to apply. If we have more applicants than available spaces, we give preference to Catholic students for openings. Students who are offered accepted for admission complete a registration form and pay an enrollment deposit three weeks after acceptance.
